1976 batch Kerala cadre IAS officer S. Sundaresan’s appointment order as Secretary Petroleum & Natural Gas have been issued. His appointment was a certainty because continuity had to be maintained in the said Ministry.
21 IAS officers to retire this month
Altogether 21 IAS officers are superannuating by this month end. They are Mssrs:- P V Bhide (AP) Maheshwar Prasad Singh, Upendra Kumar Rai (Bihar) Sharad Kumar Maheshwari (Haryana) V. K. Bakshi (J&K) D Thangaraj, R Narayanaswamy (Karnataka) Ms. Leena Mehendale, V R Bangiwar (Maharashtra) Rakesh Chandra Sahni, Dr. Komal Singh (MP) Raghav Sharan Pandey (Nagaland) Balakrishna Sahoo (Orissa ) Ujagar Singh (TamilNadu)  Dr.(Ms.) Rita Sharma, Ganga Deen Yadav, Diwakar Tripathi, Umadhar Dwivedi, Heeramani Singh Yadav (UP) and Brajabehari Mahapatra, Pradip Kumar Sengupta (West Bengal ).

Senior IPS officer Geetha Johri resigns
Senior Gujarat cadre IPS officer Geetha Johri, now police commissioner of Rajkot, has submitted her resignation from the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team investigating the 2002 communal riots, and has requested its chief, R.K. Raghavan, to relieve her at the earliest.  Under instructions from the Supreme Court, the SIT is investigating afresh nine of the relatively more gruesome massacres during the 2002 riots in the State. Besides Mr. Raghavan, the five-member team has three IPS officers from Gujarat, including Ms. Johri, Shivanand Jha and Ashish Bhatia.

A rare praise by Prime Minister of a Secretary
It is rare for serving Civil Servants to receive accolades in public from the Prime Minister. This rare happening was witnessed at the General Conference of the Indian Council for Culture recently when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh publicly placed on record his appreciation of the work being done by the Ministry of Culture and attributed the achievements to Secretary of the Department Jawahar Sircar, 1975 batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre. PIB even carried this mention in its press release on its website.

Secretary to Chhattisgarh CM quits IRS
Secretary to Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Aman Singh has resigned from the IRS.1995 batch IRS officer Aman Singh had been on deputation to the Chhattisgarh Government. He will now continue on his post on Contract Service for three years

1978 batch AP cadre IAS officer R. Bhattacharya has been appointed as Additional Secretary & FA in the Department of Information Technology, Government of India.

Fifteen 1979 batch IAS quit the service
IAS, mainly those belonging to 1979 batch, it seems, are gradually losing interest in civil services. It is now known that 15 officers of this batch alone have left the service in the recent past with Dr C I Joy being the last one. What could be the reason? Those who have quit the IAS are :- Mssrs Sandeep Madan, Rajiv Krishnaswami, Vivek Srivastava, Pradeep Puri, Debi Prasad Patra, Vijay Laxmi, Padmini Desikachar, D Prakash , Mukesh Kackar, Jai Shree Balachandran, Sukhdeep Aulakh, Kannath Alphonse, B K Bal , O P Agrawal and Dr C I Joy.

Ronen Sen likely to be Governor
Former Indian Ambassador to US Ronen Sen is likely to be made Governor soon. Since the IFS officer, SK Singh, who was Rajasthan Governor, has expired, the GoI is learnt to be contemplating to give at least one seat of Governor to an officer with IFS background.

1979 batch Rajasthan cadre IAS officer Ms Aditi Mehta to return to Rajasthan
Ms. Aditi Mehta, 1979 batch Rajasthan cadre IAS officer, who is presently Joint Secretary at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) has opted to revert prematurely to Rajasthan. Her central tenure would have ended in September 2010. She is likely to get an important assignment in the State shortly.

1989 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer Pankaj Joshi, Director, HUPA, Ministry of Urban Development has been appointed as private secretary to Dr. Tushar A Chaudhary Indian Minister of State for Tribal Affairs. His deputation period will be up to 2014.
